Ever since Paul and I announced our engagement we've had many offers of support and even more offers of advice. Some have been helpful, some less so. Perhaps the best wisdom I received came from my mother who’s advice was this: ‘Whenever you introduce Paul to someone, refer to him as your first husband – that should keep him on his toes.’

A lot of people think there is a difference to your relationship once you get married. I’ve been told that before marriage a man will lie awake all night thinking about something you said; after marriage he’ll fall asleep before you have finished saying it. I don’t need to worry about that one – I’ll just write it on his car – he spends so much time looking at it, he’ll never miss it!
